Enhancing Functionality and Light
Situated at the base of the Bruson ski lifts, this mayen had undergone two prior renovations but no longer met modern living standards. The small mullioned windows left the upper living space dark, while the inefficient bedroom layout required passage through one room to reach another. A fresh architectural vision was needed to enhance both functionality and comfort.

Optimizing Space and Energy Efficiency
The renovation involved a complete interior reconfiguration, stripping the structure to its core to optimize spatial flow and improve energy efficiency. A thorough thermal assessment guided the integration of high-performance insulation, aligning the building with CECB standards. This upgrade significantly enhanced comfort while preserving the mayen’s historical essence.

Blending Tradition with Contemporary Design
A large bow window was introduced on the valley-facing facade, offering panoramic views and filling the interior with natural light. The material palette—natural plaster and local spruce—creates a refined yet authentic alpine atmosphere. Thoughtfully designed interiors maximize space, with essential functions seamlessly integrated into the rear wall, blending storage, entry, and kitchen into a cohesive element. The result is a balanced fusion of tradition, efficiency, and contemporary mountain living.
