A Lightweight Alpine Retreat
Cà Tulla is a compact weekend house set in the Rhaetian Alps between Italy and Switzerland. Conceived as a place for retreat and renewal, the project reinterprets a former rural building, transforming it into a calm domestic refuge closely connected to its Alpine surroundings.

Reworking a Rural Structure
The rectangular volume preserves the original two-level layout, with living spaces on the upper floor and bedrooms below. Spatial composition is guided by carefully framed views: openings align with mountain peaks and sunsets, turning everyday moments—dining, reading, resting—into visual experiences shaped by the landscape.

Life Around the Hearth
Domestic life revolves around a central fireplace, recalling the archetypal Alpine home. Seasonal changes define the atmosphere: summer brings light, scents, and distant pastoral sounds, while winter invites gathering around the fire, with snow-covered scenery becoming an integral part of the interior experience.

Material Continuity and Light
Enclosed by local stone walls to the north and east, Cà Tulla opens generously to the south and west, maximizing sunlight throughout the year. Interiors are clad in raw fir wood, paired with concrete floors and minimal built-in furnishings. Local materials and restrained systems ensure low resource use, reinforcing the dialogue between interior spaces and the Alpine environment.
