A Garage Reimagined
GreenBox transforms a small disused garage into a compact garden pavilion on the slopes of the Raethian Alps in northern Italy. The existing structure is preserved but wrapped in a lightweight framework of galvanized metal profiles and steel wires. This simple intervention redefines the former utility space, turning it into a small architectural object that blends with its alpine surroundings.

A Living Facade
The metal framework functions as a three-dimensional support for climbing plants that gradually envelop the structure. Deciduous species such as Lonicera periclymenum and Polygonum baldschuanicum form the primary layer, while Humulus lupulus and Clematis tangutica weave through as a secondary texture. At ground level, herbaceous perennials, annual flowers, and bulbous plants ensure continuous seasonal blooms, creating a soft, evolving green envelope around the pavilion.

Simple Materials and Practical Spaces
Inside, the pavilion organizes three modest functions: storage for gardening tools, a small cooking area, and a space for gathering. The materials remain deliberately raw and honest. Galvanized steel forms the kitchen surfaces and windows, while larch planks shape the flooring and large sliding doors. Simple exposed pipes supply water, reinforcing the utilitarian yet carefully considered character of the space.

A Quiet Garden Shelter
GreenBox acts as a small refuge within the surrounding parkland. Some areas of the property remain intentionally wild, while others transition into flower gardens or simple lawns. Large exposed rocks scattered across the site punctuate the landscape, making the pavilion a quiet observation point where the changing seasons of the alpine surroundings can be experienced.
