Heritage Reimagined
The Reborn Barn transforms a 1960s hay barn into an exclusive alpine cabin in Val di Fassa, South Tyrol, Italy. Preserving the original form, dimensions, and lateral openings, the design honors the barn’s heritage while introducing a refined modern aesthetic and keeping within the strict building regulations that govern these areas.

Open Interiors and Light
Inside, the space follows an open-plan layout that maximizes daylight and airflow. Custom-made furniture by a local craftspeople integrates living, dining, and kitchen areas seamlessly. A modern fireplace serves as both functional and sculptural focal point, while a mezzanine sleeping area overlooks the living space. Panoramic windows frame sweeping mountain views from sunrise to sunset.

Sustainable Simplicity
Resource awareness is central to the project, with geothermal heating and the use of untreated wood, local stone, and environmentally conscious finishes. The design emphasizes authenticity, employing genuine Dolomite stone and solid larch and fir, avoiding ostentation.

Secluded Serenity
Set on a meadow at 1,450 meters above sea level, the cabin offers complete privacy amid pristine surroundings. The design encourages tranquility and reconnection with the landscape, allowing the natural setting to remain the main protagonist. Calm, understated architecture ensures the cabin complements rather than competes with its environment. Just as the original hay barns have for hundreds of years.
