A mission of dignity and inclusion
The Casa Depuoz association is rooted in the mission to support people with impairments in leading self-determined lives and participating fully in society. This commitment also extends to children, young people, and families facing challenging life situations. The new Casa Depuoz Outpost building translates these values into architecture by placing care, respect, and inclusion at the centre of everyday living.

Inclusion at the village scale
Located in the heart of Sedrun, the building strengthens visibility and social participation through its direct relationship with the village. Publicly accessible outdoor spaces with seating and a fountain connect the residential home to the surrounding school and village routes, encouraging encounters between residents, neighbours, guests, and passers-by. The building thus becomes an active part of village life rather than a secluded institution.

Clear organisation and shared living
The spatial concept follows a calm and legible structure, clearly separating communal and private areas while ensuring equal quality on all residential floors. Identical layouts on each level support orientation and independence. South-facing communal living, dining, and kitchen areas are visually connected to circulation zones through finely detailed wood-and-glass partitions, fostering openness and daily interaction.

Materiality, sustainability, and longevity
Regional timber, larch surfaces, and clay-based interior finishes define a warm and balanced atmosphere while referencing local building traditions through proportion and detail. Executed as a full timber structure, the project follows a holistic sustainability strategy in line with the Swiss sustainability guideline SIA 390/1, combining reduced embodied emissions with photovoltaic energy production and district heating for efficient long-term operation.
