A dialogue between architecture and landscape
Casa in Brianza stands near Lake Como as a contemporary villa where architecture and landscape merge seamlessly. Designed by Studio Gerosa, the residence features a large glazed facade that blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces. The collaboration with landscape architect Valerio Cozzi ensures that the garden becomes an integral part of the home, with evergreens framing the views and flowering sequences reflecting the changing seasons.
An essential and grounded volume
Conceived as a single-level residence with a basement for garages and service areas, the villa’s design responds to a narrow site bordered by residential buildings. Its clear, essential form emphasizes horizontality and solidity. The living spaces open toward the northeast, facing the Lecco Prealps and an infinity pool clad in travertine, while the bedrooms line the opposite side, ensuring privacy and warmth. A smooth hand-finished plaster facade anchors the building to the terrain, focusing on strength and low maintenance.
Traditional forms, contemporary details
The villa’s double-pitched roof, extending 10.5 meters across, recalls the protective silhouettes of Lombard farmhouses. Clad in dark aluminum, it is treated as a fifth facade, integrating all technical components into a clean architectural composition. Only the rectangular chimney, rising above the roofline, marks the heart of the home and houses the mechanical systems.
A warm continuity of materials
Inside, natural materials define a serene atmosphere. Wood ceilings and custom furniture in muted green and grey tones complement the oak and stone floors, echoing the external finishes and the delicate character of the surrounding garden. Energy efficiency, water reuse, and the integration of a photovoltaic canopy complete a project that harmonizes refined design with modern technology.
