Urban Gap
Casa MC addresses the theme of the urban gap by replacing a small detached house set between two existing buildings. While the structure is entirely new, it preserves the original shared side walls. The redesigned lake facade features small ground-floor windows that recall the previous layout, while larger, more freely arranged openings define the upper levels.

Tradition reinterpreted
A stone roof replaces the original red tiles, and the walls are finished in rasapietra to reflect local building methods. Inside, these walls remain exposed, paired with a monolithic stair and fireplace block made of white self-compacting concrete that anchors the interior.

Material clarity and precision
Chestnut wood is used for floors, furniture, and doors, referencing materials once found on site. Painted iron frames define the openings, while bathrooms are finished in seamless waterproof plaster for a calm, tactile atmosphere that reinforces the house’s crafted feel.

Built to face the elements
The ground floor lies slightly below courtyard level and can occasionally flood. A polished concrete floor and suspended metal kitchen provide durability and protection. Two skylights between the living and kitchen areas bring natural light deep into the compact interior.
