The neoclassical double residential house, accompanied by a large adjoining barn, a small washhouse, and a guardhouse, was built in 1837 by master builder Joseph Anton Seger from Vaduz. This historically significant estate, located on Feldkircher Straße, served as a K&K postal expedition office from 1864 to 1912, handling postal services for the entire Liechtenstein Unterland. Today, the site has been reimagined with the addition of a new courtyard house, designed by Cukrowicz Nachbaur, to accommodate the International Music Academy Liechtenstein. This institution provides an inspiring venue for its masterclasses, fostering talented young musicians from the region and across the globe.

The residential house retains much of its original character and atmosphere, now repurposed to serve music students with overnight accommodations and practice rooms. The attic has been transformed into a loft for professors, enhancing the building’s functionality while preserving its historical essence. The barn, built in the traditional style of a column-supported structure, has been converted into a chamber music concert hall. Its historic wooden façade is reinterpreted with adjustable wooden slats, blending contemporary design with the building’s heritage. The new courtyard house acts as a hub for communal activities, offering foyer and service spaces that form the social core of the ensemble.

All buildings share a cohesive material language, creating a harmonious architectural dialogue around a central courtyard. This shared space serves as the heart of the estate, connecting the various structures. The addition of diverse garden themes enhances the outdoor experience, seamlessly integrating the property into the surrounding landscape. This thoughtful restoration and expansion honor the estate’s rich history while establishing it as a vibrant cultural and artistic destination.
