Rooted in vernacular traditions

House MP is located in the village of Rovetta in the Bergamo Alps and takes its cue from the traditional barns of the region. Designed by Co.Modo, the house is a compact, single-story structure with a pitched concrete roof that echoes local typologies. Instead of following the speculative construction trends in the area, the project centers on the architectural heritage of the region, creating a contemporary interpretation rooted in resilience and adaptability.

Stone cladding and precise openings

The facades are finished in locally sourced stone, punctuated by windows framed with architectural architraves—a nod to vernacular styles. Traditional materials are reworked with precise detailing, especially where glazing meets the stone skin. These openings establish a direct visual and spatial link between the interior and the Alpine surroundings. The continuity of flooring across the threshold enhances this connection, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor space.

Minimalist interior with local materials

Inside, the house follows a clear and rational plan, organized to maintain constant dialogue with the exterior landscape. The living area is the heart of the home, made distinctive by the sloping ceiling that mirrors the roof’s profile. A restrained palette of wood and natural marble brings warmth and tactility to the otherwise minimalistic interiors. Every choice reflects a quiet clarity, reinforcing the connection between form, function, and setting.

Detailing that conceals complexity

Technical elements are seamlessly integrated into the design, underscoring the studio’s attention to detail. Sustainable systems are hidden within the architecture, from pipes concealed in the perimeter walls to a discreet reverse slope that manages drainage beneath the cantilevered roof. Even the boldest architectural features are refined with subtle precision, making the house both efficient and timeless.
