Built in 1909 as a stately family home, Villa Peduzzi sits high above northern Italy’s Lake Como, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The villa’s design blends classical and decorative influences, featuring a Medieval-inspired stone plinth as its foundation and an elegant facade adorned with Italian Liberty-style details. Having fallen into disuse since the 1960s, the villa underwent a significant transformation under the guidance of STUDIO DAMINATO, who reimagined its interiors while respecting its historic character.

A refined balance of communal and private spaces
The main level of the villa serves as the heart of the home, comprising communal spaces such as a library, piano salon, living and dining rooms, and a family kitchen. These rooms seamlessly connect to expansive terraces, which are clad in stone and furnished for outdoor dining, lounging, and seasonal gatherings beneath a shaded pergola. Above, two floors house private bedroom suites with spacious en-suite bathrooms, offering serene retreats for residents and guests. The former attic was raised during the renovation, creating an additional floor with entertainment lounges, a games room, open-air terraces, and a bar. The original tower room now serves as a striking ninth bedroom suite with its own bathroom, while an expanded basement plinth accommodates a fitness area and caretaker’s quarters.

Preserving heritage through thoughtful restoration
The restoration honors the villa’s historic roots by drawing inspiration from its original Liberty-era frescoes, using soft pastel tones to guide the choice of materials, textiles, and finishes. Custom-designed furniture and fixtures were thoughtfully paired with curated vintage pieces from the 1930s and mid-century modern era, blending heritage with contemporary style. The gardens, enhanced with a new summer pavilion and swimming pool, now offer an idyllic setting for leisure, perfectly complementing the villa’s timeless elegance.
