From rural past to contemporary retreat
Once a humble rural shelter in the Lozen Valley, the Spjedhof has been carefully restored into a warm holiday home that bridges history and comfort. The original schist rock and limestone masonry now frame bright living spaces, while the structure’s timeworn stability has been renewed with meticulous reinforcement and new timber elements.

Preserving authenticity through design
The renovation celebrates the building’s traditional character while introducing subtle modernity. The former hayloft, once used for storage, now forms the heart of the home—a generous living area where original stone walls contrast elegantly with a newly built spruce roof, inviting light and warmth into the space.

A seamless dialogue between indoors and landscape
Large sliding wooden panels create fluid transitions between the living area and the surrounding Alpine landscape. When open, they dissolve the boundary between house and outdoors; when closed, they restore the compact, rustic character of the original structure, revealing the project’s sensitivity to both form and function.

Craftsmanship rooted in memory
Every detail, from the diamond-shaped carved motifs to the refined joinery, reinterprets local traditions with contemporary precision. The buildings stands as a tribute to the enduring craftsmanship of the region, preserving its rural identity while offering a renewed sense of life and place.
