A solitary volume with a civic role
The new building in Schruns is conceived as a standalone structure that redefines its urban surroundings. Strategically positioned, it forms a new public square that links to the town’s existing network of village spaces. This careful insertion enhances the spatial rhythm of the town centre, offering a strong and lasting contribution to Schruns’ urban fabric. More than just a building, the project acts as an anchor point for public life, strengthening the continuity and identity of the village core.

Facades shaped by context
The main facade faces the newly formed square, combining precision and elegance to create a commanding presence. Its large windows are framed by generous solid wall surfaces, and the restrained material palette underlines the building’s permanence and clarity. The facades are subtly articulated to respond to their context: concave shapes offer protection where needed, while convex lines open up along Silvrettastrasse, guiding movement and drawing the townscape outward toward the new public spaces.

Urban presence through simplicity and solidity
This project demonstrates how contemporary architecture can meaningfully engage with traditional village layouts. Through measured proportions, restrained material use, and thoughtful spatial articulation, the building becomes an integral part of Schruns’ evolving civic landscape. It offers both functional flexibility and urban clarity, serving current needs while accommodating future growth within a strong, simple framework.
