Strategic Spatial Growth

The expansion of Windkraft Simonsfeld’s headquarters in Ernstbrunn responds to the company’s strong growth in recent years. The new wing adds office spaces and introduces zones for reception, dining, and events. With a focus on interaction and exchange, the design enhances both internal collaboration and external engagement with clients and visitors.

Sustainability as a Guiding Principle

A rammed earth core anchors service functions and contributes to indoor climate regulation via an innovative energy concept. Heating and cooling are powered by 11 geothermal boreholes, and a full-surface rooftop photovoltaic array supplies the building’s electricity. With a net-positive CO₂ balance during construction, the project achieved a perfect 1000/1000 score under the klimaaktiv Gold certification.

Architectural Link Between Old and New

Designed by Architekturbüro Reinberg, the extension runs along the street as a two-storey volume that connects with the existing structure at two points. This creates a central atrium—a shared hub that visually and functionally links old and new. While compact in form, the addition complements the existing architecture and reframes the entire site as a cohesive whole.

Flexible Use and Open Layout

The ground floor includes reception, meeting areas, a cafeteria, and a versatile event hall. Its spatial layout supports flexible use, enriched by sheltered outdoor areas for informal interaction. Upstairs, offices are arranged around the atrium, benefiting from clear sightlines and natural orientation. The timber skeleton structure allows for future adaptability and internal flexibility.
