Carefully guided into modernity
On the outskirts of Weiler, a historic Alpine farmstead has been thoughtfully transformed for contemporary living. Originally a dairy farm, the “Einhof” typology housed living quarters, barn, and stables under one roof. The careful renovation maintains the essence of the building while integrating ecological principles and modern comforts. The result is a harmonious addition to the village landscape, respecting its historical character while introducing a refined architectural presence.

A cohesive unit again
A stable extension from the 1980s disrupted the original proportions and was dismantled into separate materials. Following circular economy principles, reclaimed timber and facade cladding were repurposed for agricultural use. The historic barn and vaulted cellar were restored with precision, forming a link between past and present. Functional spaces such as the garage and utility room were discreetly integrated, while the new residential wing aligns with the original structure. With matching eaves and ridge heights, the farmstead regains its architectural cohesion.

Open structure with a retreat
Inside, the home unfolds with a flowing, open-plan layout. The entrance offers a panoramic view over the pool terrace, leading into a lounge that connects seamlessly with children’s bedrooms, a bathroom, and a small office. On the upper floor, a central staircase separates the kitchen and dining area, both offering sweeping countryside views, from the living space with its inviting fireplace. In contrast to the openness, the master suite is positioned at the rear for privacy. The locally sourced spruce facade bridges past and present, reinforcing a sustainable and timeless architectural identity.
